Padel is among the fastest growing sports in Portugal, including São Brás
New coverings for São Brás de Alportel’s padel courts were unveiled by the municipal council last month.
Thanks to a €95,000 investment shared by the Clube de Ténis e Padel de São Brás de Alportel and the local council, players can now enjoy their matches come rain or shine.
The investment included the covering of the club’s two padel courts, a revamped reception and bar area and a sheltered terrace to provide “more comfort” for players and visitors.
Further growth is in the pipeline for the club, as plans are already in motion for two more padel courts, a new tennis court, and even a club house with additional amenities.
“Our final goal is to turn the club into a place of excellence, bringing the whole community together,” said João Romeira, president of the club’s board.
Local mayor Vítor Guerreiro is also delighted to see the club grow. “This is another step showing how dynamic our community is and the growth of a sport that is gaining more and more fans,” he said.
Guerreiro vowed to continue supporting initiatives and associations that promote sport and the well-being of local citizens. “We are convinced that sport is an important tool for physical and mental health, as well as to improve life quality and pass on values.”
