Dozens of inspectors from the Labour Conditions Authority (ACT) are visiting around 70 companies today to check the situation of workers identified as ‘false self employed’. This means people who earn through green receipts but are actually concentrating their work with a single entity. The action comes after ACT notified 9,699 companies that it had become aware of 17,701 workers in what they consider to be ‘irregular situations’. Further inspections are due until ACT gets to the bottom of its list of 9,699 firms … Meantime some have already started legalising their workers (2,500 so far have been officially ‘employed’), writes Lusa.
