Japanese midfielder Mu Kanasaki threw his shirt on the ground in disgust following his tactical substitution just after the half-hour mark during Portimonense’s ill-fated visit to Viseu last Saturday afternoon.
The league leaders saw their hopes of banking another three points slip when Nelsinho’s 28th-minute dismissal left them in numerical inferiority for the remainder of the match.
The home side scored from the resulting free kick and never looked back as Cafu made it two before the break, and Claudio concluded a convincing 3-0 win from the penalty spot ten minutes from the end.
With none of the pursuing clubs making any significant headway, Portimonense were still enjoying a two-point cushion going into Wednesday afternoon’s (played after the Algarve Resident went to press) match against Chaves, and will have been hoping to return to winning ways in front of their own fans before this Sunday morning’s trip to Oliveirense.
Meanwhile, Farense continue in great heart and are only eight points behind Portimonense following their impressive 3-1 victory over Benfica B.
The two rivals will meet in the Algarve’s capital on December 22 for what should be a great pre-Christmas treat for both sets of fans.
