Customers making withdrawals from the Multibanco machine at Foz Plaza shopping centre in Figueira da Foz were stunned when they received squares of paper. “I wanted €100 and got instead five sheets of red paper!” António Correia exclaimed, posing for photographers with what looked like a large paper napkin. A police source has since explained the mix-up was due to test papers being left behind by mistake by the machine’s maintenance company.
