Portugal’s government is set to publish a decree that will make life easier for more than 100,000 farmers by simplifying the rules of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), Minister of Agriculture, José Manuel Fernandes, announced today. He said the decree results in the “removal of barriers, simplification of cross-compliance rules and removal of sanctions”. The idea is that this will be the first step in measures to be adopted over the next couple of months, to start alleviating policy burdens on the nation’s farmers.
