Designer Outlet, IKEA and Mar Shopping celebrate fifth anniversary

It’s been five years since the opening of the huge Loulé shopping complex comprising Mar Shopping Algarve, IKEA Loulé and Designer Outlet Algarve.

To celebrate the milestone, the three outlets have prepared nearly a week’s worth of entertainment, including concerts, exclusive discounts, and activities for children, between this Wednesday and next Tuesday (October 26-November 1)

There will be make-up, style and fashion specialists throughout the week at Mar Shopping, offering special tips to visitors between 11am and 1pm and 4pm and 8pm.

On Thursday and Sunday, make-up advisor Susana Boia will be revealing her secrets to clients, while image consulter Cris Almeida will be providing her personal advisor insight on Friday.

Make-up artist Mel Jordão will be leading Make-Up Talks on Sunday between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, while Susana Boia will return on Monday to show that “just a few accessories can make a difference.”

Also planned is a responsible adoption fair and fundraiser organised alongside Animal Rescue Algarve (ARA), which will take place over the weekend from 10am to 6pm underneath the Samsonite bridge and will feature some of the animals in ARA’s care.

Children will also have something to look forward to, from popcorn and cotton candy to live music and magic shows, and glitter make-up.

There will also be a ‘PhotoFlyer’ at each of the establishments where visitors can have their photo taken and receive a €5 discount on purchases of over €25 in the case of IKEA or receive prizes alluding to the complex’s fifth anniversary at Mar Shopping and Designer Outlet Algarve. The latter is also offering a series of gifts for every €100 spent at its stores. IKEA is also offering 30% discounts to IKEA Family members between October 26 and November 1.

The full entertainment programme can be found online.

Our sister publication Barlavento newspaper has spoken with the directors of the three establishments to understand what the advantages are of being located in the same area.

Miguel Paraíso Guerreiro from Designer Outlet Algarve stressed how the three venues complement each other and create synergies, offering clients a wide range of brands and services in a “modern and ample space.”

This also helps attracts different kinds of clients, says Emmanuel Charpentier from IKEA Loulé, and offer them an experience that “goes way beyond shopping.”

Last but not least, Ana Antunes from Mar Shopping Algarve says the complex is the largest of its kind in the Algarve and combines “moments of leisure, knowledge and awareness of social projects.”
