Desperate traffickers burnt trying to blow-up drug haul

It was a desperate attempt to get rid of the evidence that left two drug smugglers with 40% burns to their bodies.
As the authorities approached suspicious Portuguese fishing boat “Eiskos” and its mixed crew of Portuguese, Spanish and Africans, the men decided to blow up their haul as a way of evading capture.
But the explosion only destroyed part of their 10-15 kilo cargo of hashish, and severely injured two of the men in the process.
The boat registered in Viana do Castelo is now moored in the Spanish port of Vigo as the authorities sift through the debris.
According to news sources, it has not been possible to quantify the drug load as so much of it was destroyed.
