The Algarve musician has been nominated for co-authoring and interpreting the song “Esperança”.
Algarve musician Dino d’Santiago has been nominated for a Latin Grammy. The singer and songwriter was shortlisted for one of the coveted awards for co-authoring and interpreting the song “Esperança“.
This year’s edition also features a nomination for a song recorded by the Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos.
According to the list of nominees released by the Latin Discographic Academy, the song “Esperança”, written by Brazilian musicians Criolo and Amaro Freitas with Brazilian producer Nave and Portuguese musician Dino d’Santiago, is nominated for the Latin Grammy for “Best Song in Portuguese Language”.
This song, performed by Dino d’Santiago, Criolo and Amaro Freitas, was recorded between Portugal and Brazil and released last May.
Created in collaboration with producer Nave, the theme was presented as a manifesto against inequality and repression and conveys a message that, as the title indicates, is one of hope.
“I was in the middle of a Jazz History class when I received the good news that our song “Esperança” was nominated for a Latin Grammy in the ‘Best Song in the Portuguese Language’ category,” wrote the artist from Quarteira on his Facebook page.
The singer added, “From the first moment, Criolo visualised this day! The transformative power of believing in what we do is impressive!”
“Linha de Passe” from the album “Músicas Brasileiras, Músicos Portugueses”, released in March by the Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos and arranged by Nailor Proveta, is nominated in the “Best Arrangement” category.
The Latin Grammys’ 25th edition will take place on November 14th in Miami, USA.
In 2023, the event was held in Seville, Spain, marking the first time it took place outside the United States.
