A dog which fell into the Arade River in Portimão was rescued by maritime authorities this Thursday morning (February 15).
Witnesses who saw the dog falling into the water alerted authorities at 11.12am, which led to the deployment of one member of the local maritime police and a member of the Portimão port captaincy, the National Maritime Authority (AMN) says in a statement.

Upon their arrival, they noticed that the dog was unable to return to land on its own and decided to rescue it using a maritime police boat.
The dog was unharmed and taken safely back to its owner, AMN adds.
