Dom Pedro Vilamoura Hotel announces rebrand to Hyatt Regency

The hotel will undergo a “dramatic design overhaul”

The Dom Pedro Vilamoura Hotel, which is currently part of the Dom Pedro Collection and managed by DETAILS, is about to undergo an update and be rebranded under the Hyatt Regency brand.

An affiliate of DETAILS has entered into a franchise agreement with an affiliate of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, under which the hotel is set to become a Hyatt Regency in 2026, following an extensive renovation.

“The hotel, located only 20 minutes from Faro International airport in Vilamoura, will undergo a dramatic design overhaul of the existing lobby, restaurant, fitness spaces and outside areas, becoming the latest in an array of major improvements across the stunning resort managed by DETAILS,” said a press statement.

“The plans for the anticipated Hyatt Regency hotel include a wholly refreshed lobby area with an upgraded check-in experience and new central bar, completely redesigned restaurant facilities with live cooking stations, BBQ pit, refurbished octagonal bar on the terrace and contemporary and elegant, locally inspired furnishings throughout.”

The project benefits from the expertise of THDP Design for interior design and visual concept, as well as Streetsense for the repositioning of all F&B outlets.

The first phase of the improvement works is scheduled to run until the end of summer 2025 with plans for the hotel to be fully rebranded as a Hyatt Regency by summer 2026.

Francisco Moser, Hospitality CEO at DETAILS – Hospitality, Sports, Leisure, said: “Working with a globally recognised, high-profile market leader like Hyatt enhances the perception of Vilamoura as a must-visit destination in Portugal and Europe. This rebranding will undoubtedly bring a distinctive and refined element to our stunning portfolio, reflecting the high standards that the brand represents.

“This is an exciting project that will add value to the entire region by attracting audiences who are loyal to the brand. The renovation of infrastructure, incorporation of valuable insights and the prime location will make this accommodation the perfect combination for our guests.”

The announcement of the Hyatt Regency is one of several key projects managed by DETAILS in Vilamoura

Nuno Galvão Pinto, Regional Vice President Development Europe at Hyatt, said: “This exciting project showcases the flexibility and comprehensive support we provide to owners pursuing a conversion. We are committed to collaborating closely with the owner and DETAILS throughout the extensive renovations leading to the rebranding. The project also aligns seamlessly with our expanded leisure strategy and strengthens our leadership in the resort segment across Europe. We are also excited to continue expanding in Portugal and across Iberia.”

DETAILS, a hospitality, sports and leisure management business wholly owned by Arrow Global which acquired its assets in Vilamoura in 2021, has committed significant investment on several fronts to “lift the profile and status of what is already one of the Algarve’s most exclusive destinations”.

To complement the hospitality offering in Vilamoura, DETAILS is also managing other projects including the development of a new sports centre, the return of the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre to the international showjumping circuit, and the renovation of the Old Course, the second oldest golf course in the Algarve.
