Travel by residents in Portugal fell by 7.8 % in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period in 2023, to 4.5 million, the first drop since the second quarter of 2021, INE statistics institute announced today. But it doesn’t appear to be because national residents don’t have the money to travel. “This decrease is based on a drop in trips within national territory (which fell by 10.0%) and an increase in trips abroad, which rose by 9.2% year-on-year to 599,500″, said INE.
