A rural fire broke out this afternoon near SĆ£o Marcos da Serra in Silves.
A total of 28 firefighters, aided by five fire trucks and a helicopter, were dispatched after receiving an alert at 4.16pm and were able to swiftly bring the flames under control.
In fact, it is believed the firefightersā quick response was critical to preventing the spread of the flames, especially as strong winds were blowing at the time.
According to the national civil protection website, the blaze is now in a āphase of conclusionā.
The fire broke out in a brushland area in Monte das Pitas, near the small town of SĆ£o Marcos da Serra.
