Drivers arrested

A total of nine motorists were arrested in a nationwide ‘Operation Stop’ centred on commercial drivers last week. Almost 700 fines were given out – 639 for road traffic offences and the rest for fiscal/customs infractions. In the Algarve, two drivers were detained – one for having an expired driving licence, the other for refusing a breathalyser test.
