RESIDENTS AND tourists on the island of Bali, Indonesia, have been hit by an alcohol shortage. Supplies have dwindled and the state-owned firm responsible for importing alcohol has not applied for quotas, which must be renewed every six months. Hoteliers believe this could have a detrimental effect on the tourist industry and some bars have had to close.
