‘Between Dishes and Wine’ aims to provide the full package of eating, drinking and staying in the Algarve
The Algarve Wine Commission (CVA) has announced the return of ‘Entre Pratos e Vinhos’ (Between Dishes and Wine), a wine pairing event which was successfully held in the region for the first time last year.
The event, which will take place between October 17 and November 30, aims to promote traditional Algarve food and locally produced wine, having taken place at over 20 restaurants across the region in 2023.
This year, the event is inspired by a new motto: ‘Eat, Drink and Stay’. In other words, hotels are also being challenged to sign up, with the idea being to provide a full experience of eating the best food the Algarve has to offer, drinking the best wine and staying at the region’s top hotels.
Each participating restaurant will be asked to present a menu featuring a dish and a wine that is certified as IG Algarve or DO Lagoa, Lagos, Portimão or Tavira. Meanwhile, participating hotels will provide suggestions on the best accommodation experience.
Every experience that can be enjoyed as part of the event will be promoted on the website and social media pages of the Algarve Wine Commission, it says.
“As the event is focused on promoting the wines of the Algarve region, partners will be provided digital educational material about Algarve wines featuring training videos and an Algarve wines book,” the CVA adds.
Restaurants and hotels interested in taking part can present their bid until September 30 by filling in a digital application form which can be found on the CVA’s website (www.vinhosdoalgarve.pt).
The regional wine commission also highlights that the event takes place during the Algarve’s so-called ‘low season’, helping attract more visitors to the region during the winter.
