The main figures from Europe’s central banks will once again gather in Sintra today for the European Central Bank (ECB) Forum, just as the first interest rate cut in the eurozone in almost five years gets underway. This year’s theme is “Monetary policy in an era of transformation”, with the heads of the bloc’s central banks discussing the entry into a new cycle of interest rate cuts, with inflation already stable in most economies. The forum kicks off late afternoon this afternoon and runs until Wednesday. The order of business will begin with an introductory speech by ECB President Christine Lagarde.
