EDP accused of “abusing position of dominance” to rake in extra €140 million

AdC, Portugal’s competitions authority has formally accused electricity provider EDP Produção of a “practice that caused price increases to consumers” between 2009-2013 of around €140 million. Say reports, this is all linked to the infamous CMEC subsidies that have been queried by MPs for over a decade (click here). For now EDP is analysing AdC’s findings. The electrical giant already faces refunding €72.9 million allegedly overpaid to electricity plants.
