EDP workers hold protest in Lisbon

Hundreds of EDP workers have been demonstrating outside their company’s headquarters in Lisbon today, at a point where they are also holding a 24-hour strike. Dressed as if for work, the protest centred on “valorisation of their careers”, explains Lusa. “The shareholders get millions, we get peanuts”, was the general refrain as some protestors also sung the ‘song of revolution’: “Grândola, Vila Morena”. Syndicates add that EDP fails to provide any solutions for workers’ dissatisfaction. The demo ended with syndicate leaders handing in a letter, detailing workers’ demands.
