The bizarre story of boxes of cash discovered in an old stone wall has finally been decided: the state is keeping the money, even though a 46-year-old former emigré says it is his.
This has always been a very dark mystery: theories are that the money belonged to a spiritualist who was murdered in 2009 and ‘had been known to keep large sums of money in cash boxes’.
The former emigré appeared on the scene some months after the find in November 2021, and pursued his claim through the courts. But it has been considered ‘unrealistic’, and thus the money reverts to the state.
The man had claimed that he ‘did not trust banks, nor did he trust his wife’ so he left the money in an old stone wall…
