Portugal is aiming to break new ground in the fight against long-term unemployment. Top priorities centre on getting young people into their first jobs and seeing over-30s given new chances. Outlining the country’s plans, Minister for Solidarity, Employment and Social Security Mota Soares told Brussels on Monday that Portugal wants to be a pioneer on a European level and is investing millions to get its long-term employed back in business.
