While recaptured convict Fábio Loureiro sits in a Moroccan jail awaiting extradition to Portugal, details are emerging as to why he was travelled to a country with an extradition agreement with Portugal. The answer is that he was trying to make his way to Algeria – which doesn’t have an extradition agreement with Portugal. In Algeria, he was hoping to get a new identity, new passport and Algerian nationality through an arranged marriage, explain reports. With all this now foiled by PJ police, Loureiro is challenging the extradition order which could see the process delayed by months.
