Paulo Gentiloni, the European Commissioner for the Economy said today that he has “no particular concern” for the moment about the level of spending in Portugal, stressing the reduction in public debt, which is expected to reach 90% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2026. Speaking at a press conference in Brussels during the presentation of the autumn economic forecasts, he said that he was “taking note of the fact that, overall, Portugal’s budgetary situation remains very good”.
