A captivating solo show of work by celebrated artist Tom Bund opens at Galeria Arte Algarve in Lagoa on Saturday, November 9.
Tom Bund has been painting for decades. His work has been described as “masterful” by art critics, but “magical” is another word that comes to mind. German-born Bund has the knack for seeing magic in the simplest everyday moments, and then interpreting it with a gentle twist of humour.
His series entitled ‘Observations’ and ‘Portraits’ are perfect examples of this, but he is just as accomplished with experimental work – and some of his latest experiments will be presented at the exhibition that has its Vernissage at 3pm on the 9th.
Along with new ‘Observations’, Tom will be showing a selection of bleach and oil crayon drawings on mounted silk as well as some impressionist oils of gardens in Sintra, which is where he lives and runs an art school.
Tom’s paintings can be found in private collections all over the world. Exhibiting regularly for more than 40 years, he has another solo show earmarked for Amsterdam later this year, featuring his atmospheric Jazz series.
Tom Bund’s latest exhibition in the Algarve – the first for some time – is open to all-comers. As always, admission is free and parking, just off the EN125, unlimited. N.D.
