António Costa Silva came into Portugal’s government from ‘big business’ – big oil business to be exact. His brief, at the ministry of economy and sea, was ‘bigged up’; people were told to expect great things. The results? He leaves the government with the economy in deceleration, writes Expresso, but satisfied with the diversification that has been achieved. All told, being a minister “was not one of the best experiences” in his life, “due to the obstacles, the bureaucracy” he faced. He has told the paper that “there is a lot that needs changing in Public Administration, and it is urgent to stop demonising businesses…”
Experience as minister “not one of the best”, admits Costa Silva
