Farmers threaten to return to street protests in September

Like police, Portugal’s farmers are threatening to return to the streets in protest in September unless the government comes up with more support. The federation of farmers particularly wants the reinstatement of regional offices, closed down by the Socialist government. This was a situation that the centre-right agreed it would reverse IF it came into power. Now that it has, nothing has changed. Farmers’ ultimatum gives the government until September to do so, or protests are back on.
