Faro Airport to urge tourists to save water

Campaign to be launched at Faro Airport

Aiming to raise awareness amongst holidaymakers about the importance of saving water, tourism authorities will launch a major water conservation campaign at Faro International Airport next Tuesday (July 23).

Scheduled to start at 3pm, the event will seek to raise awareness among tourists about the critical importance of responsible water usage during their stay in the Algarve, a region which continues to face significant struggles due to drought.

The campaign, part of the broader Save Water initiative, will be unveiled in a press conference attended by prominent figures, including Secretary of State for Tourism, Pedro Machado; Board Member of Turismo de Portugal, Lídia Monteiro; President of the Algarve Tourism Region, André Gomes; and Chief Operational Officer of ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal, Chloé Lapeyre.

In a statement, Turismo de Portugal emphasised that the campaign is not just a call to action but a movement to inspire tourists to become proactive in water conservation. “This is about inviting tourists to be forward-thinking and conscientious about the necessity of saving water,” said the statement.
