Faro expands live beach cam network

System offers free real-time streaming of beach and sea conditions

The municipal council of Faro has expanded its beach monitoring capabilities by installing two new live cameras along the coastline.

In collaboration with MEO BeachCam, these new cameras are located on the western section of Praia de Faro (Faro Beach), and atop the Santa Maria lighthouse on Ilha do Farol (Farol Island), joining the existing camera operated by the Faro Surf Club on the eastern section of Praia de Faro.

The system offers free real-time streaming of beach and sea conditions for everyone to see, covering parts of Praia do Farol (Farol Beach), Praia da Culatra (Culatra Beach), the bay of Ilha Deserta (Desert Island), and the extensive Praia de Faro on the Ancão peninsula.

For those planning beach trips, engaging in water sports, or simply curious about the area’s coastline, the live cams provide a valuable tool for checking weather and sea conditions.

Beyond serving recreational purposes, these cameras are also a critical resource for Faro’s Civil Protection teams, the municipal council says, aiding in the continuous monitoring of marine conditions to ensure public safety.

To access the full MEO BeachCam live streams, users can visit the MEO BeachCam website or download the app for mobile devices. The streams for Praia de Faro (West) and Ilha do Farol can be viewed here and here.
