Faro katana-wielder strikes again

Faro residents are living in fear of an Angolan man who attacks people “for very little reason”. In the middle of November, he was arrested for bludgeoning a fisherman over the head with a katana and throwing green paint over two police officers. Now, he has hit the news headlines again by trying to hit a passer-by over the head with a shovel.

“I only just dodged in time because my wife was able to warn me,” the latest victim, musician Armindo Silva told Correio da Manhã. “I was very lucky. I don’t know what he will attack me with next time I meet him though.”

The attacker, who is currently out on bail for the katana and paint incidents, is known to suffer from mental problems. He is currently living in an empty house belonging to someone else near the Horta da Areia neighbourhood. Police have been alerted.
