Faro unveils new-look Figuras Park

Park features a brand-new pump track

The municipal council of Faro has announced that the nearly €355,000 revamp of the Figuras Park has been completed.

The park, which was badly rundown, was given a significant facelift to make it more visually appealing and safer, whilst also improving accessibility for people with mobility issues.

The plan was to keep all structures that were in good condition and replace those that did not meet the required safety standards.

Key features of the renovation include the preservation of the popular climbing structures, with the addition of a newly resurfaced impact area for improved safety. The park’s existing multi-sports court also received a significant overhaul.

Outdated play equipment was replaced with more challenging and modern alternatives, while a new section dedicated to accessible, inclusive play equipment was introduced. Meanwhile, for fitness enthusiasts, the park now offers an outdoor gym space featuring fitness and street workout equipment suited for several fitness levels, while another standout addition is a new pump track, a purpose-built cycling track perfect for bicycles, skateboards and scooters.

The revitalised park was officially opened as part of the Faro Ativo initiative, which celebrated the park’s transformation with events held on September 28 and 29. The programme, which encourages active lifestyles, will continue across various locations in the town until November 3.
