Faro’s official animal shelter celebrates second anniversary

Faro’s official animal shelter celebrated its second anniversary on January 16. Since opening, CROAF has taken in 1,551 animals, including 831 stray cats under the Capture-Neuter-Return (C.E.D) program. A total of 1,119 animals have been sterilised, 125 lost pets reunited with families, and 333 animals “adopted responsibly”.

The shelter’s efforts have also significantly reduced stray animal numbers in the municipality from 223 in 2023 to 150 in 2024.
