Food Bank campaign collects more than 2,213 tonnes of food over weekend

The Food Bank’s campaign against hunger collected more than 2,213 tonnes of food last weekend in more than 2,000 shops across the country, the charity said in a statement today. Food collected will be distributed from next week to 2,400 social solidarity institutions and, through them, to around 380,000 people with proven economic difficulties. “It is impressive to see the wave of solidarity generated by the Food Bank Campaigns that impact so many people, companies, public and private organisations in a common cause”, said president of the Portuguese Federation of Food Banks Against Hunger (FPBACF), Isabel Jonet, quoted in the same statement.
