It is being announced as the Algarve’s “last big summer event” and will bring gastronomy, live music, regattas and handicraft to Albufeira Marina this weekend (September 20-22).
Entitled ‘Never Ending Summer’, the event was designed “specifically with the people of Albufeira in mind”.
“Our main goal is for the people of Albufeira to feel at home here, because this is their marina,” says marina boss João Amaral.
One of the highlights will be the Cataplana Festival, which will see five of the marina’s restaurants serving the beloved stew, made inside a traditional clam-shaped copper pot.
There will also be a record number of boats taking part in the regattas, while nearly 100 classic cars will be parading through the town’s streets.
Also on the agenda are a walk/run race, several concerts, DJ sets and workshops.
Organisers are expecting thousands of people to turn up for the event.
“The diversity of activities is praiseworthy, and we are sure that they will meet the expectations of our visitros,” says Albufeira Mayor José Carlos Rolo.
