Still minister of foreign affairs, João Gomes Cravinho has blasted the results of Russia’s presidential elections, saying what took place (over the weekend) could not possibly be termed “a real election (…) Elections took place in Portugal on March 10, they take place in democratic countries, what happened in Russia doesn’t have the dignity to deserve that name”, he told reporters after what was his last meeting in Brussels as Portugal’s head of diplomacy. Gomes Cravinho also referred to the “added illegality” of Russia’s having extended voting into occupied regions of Ukraine, the Transnistria region of Moldova and occupied regions in Georgia.
