Only one in four foreign doctors working in Portugal chose to practice in the country’s beleaguered SNS public health service (which is crying out for doctors and specialists in every area). According to an article in Expresso today, the number of foreign doctors practising in Portugal has grown 15% in the last five years – the majority of them being Spanish and Brazilians, with most working in the Lisbon/ Vale do Tejo area. But they are not choosing the SNS health service (to the detriment of the country’s citizens).
