With Portugal’s Justice Minister saying prison overcrowding will see many inmates sent home on electronic bracelets, former Benfica boss João Vale e Azevedo enjoyed a quiet three-day prison break from Carregueira jail in his Almoçageme home, in the Sintra hills, this week. Almost half way through his 11-and-a-half-year sentence for fraud, he is understood to have spent the whole time indoors, seeing family and friends.
