He had been absent on ‘psychiatric sick leave’ for a week – and is expected to lose his parliamentary immunity ahead of questioning by police for the theft of suitcases from Lisbon and Ponta Delgada airports. Meantime, CHEGA leader André Ventura has conceded this is “not a good moment for the party” but that current scandals have not ‘fragilised’ his leadership.
