Spanish queen emerita Sofia will be visiting Portugal next week to take part in the Champalimaud Foundation’s International Congress on Neurodegenerative diseases. The initiative will be taking place between September 19 to 21 (which is International Alzheimer’s Day). Queen Sofia has been a tireless champion of research into neurodegenerative illnesses – particularly Alzheimer’s – being one of the driving forces behind the opening in Madrid in 2007 of the Queen Sofia Foundation Alzheimer Centre.
