Testing for SARS-CoV-2 will be free for all in Lagoa from June 14, announced the local council.
From this Monday, residents of Lagoa borough as well as municipal workers will be able to visit one of the pharmacies listed below to take a free Covid-19 test.
As the council revealed, a protocol was signed between Lagoa Council and the National Association of Pharmacies to allow the local population, “irrespective of their age”, and council workers to “undertake two free SARS-CoV-2 tests at participating pharmacies”.
The rapid antigen tests (TRAg) can be taken without the need for a doctor’s prescription and those who wish to take the two tests can do so within a minimum of 14 days apart between each test.
Positive cases will be “immediately reported to SINAVE”, the health ministry’s system monitoring the pandemic’s evolution.
Lagoa mayor Luís Encarnação said: “The initiative, which is part of the ‘Lagoa, Segura de Si’ (Lagoa, Confident About Itself) campaign, is not just about mass testing, it allows local residents to get tested for free, when they feel like it, and thus increases the feeling of confidence among the local population.”
The initiative represents an investment of €160,000, said the council in a press statement.
Pior booking is required.
