John Ketley, formerly of Fumeiro do Algarve, has stepped out of the smokehouse and into the kitchen to offer customers the chance to sample some of his smoked products in the comfort of the recently reopened As Aves restaurant near Portimão.
John, his wife Sue and two of their daughters Kirsty and Olivia, have taken over the restaurant and created a menu based on their own smoked produce with something to suit everyone, from dishes using smoked salmon, smoked duck or chicken, smoked cheeses to smoked swordfish and even delicately smoked almonds, affectionately known as JK’s Smoked Nuts!
“It really is a family affair at As Aves and our menu highlights the quality smoked products that we make here. Whilst customers can enjoy dishes from our menu, they can also come in to pick up our smoked produce to take away,” said John.
With more than 30 years experience in catering and John and Sue’s innovative ideas, their menu will offer quality food to their customers with a cosmopolitan twist.
Open daily Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am until 3.30pm and for Sunday lunch on the first Sunday of each month.
As Aves is located in the village of Ladeira do Vau on the outskirts of Portimão on the Monchique road close to the A22.
