An art exhibition inspired by the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster will be on display in Vila Real de Santo António, Castro Marim and Ayamonte (Spain) – the Eurocity of Guadiana – between March 6 and April 5.
The works are all based on poems from ‘My Fukushima’, written by Japanese poet Taro Aizu to raise money for the victims of the disaster.
The show involves a number of international artists and will be launched simultaneously on March 6 in the Eurocity’s three towns.
It will open at 10am at the António Aleixo Cultural Centre in VRSA, at midday (Portuguese time) at Casa Grande in Ayamonte and at 3pm at Casa do Sal in Castro Marim.
A fourth exhibition will also take place at ‘Mundialito de Futebol Infantil’ children’s football competition, which will take place in VRSA and Ayamonte between March 28 and April 5.

‘My Fukushima’ will then go on to Alcoutim and other locations along the Vicentina Coast.
A joint collaboration between German association Artnations and Dutch association Gogyoshi Art Project International, the show has already travelled to Brazil, the Netherlands and Germany, as well as Faro and Cachopo (Tavira).
In Portugal, it is being hosted by the ‘Peace and Art Society’, led by Paulo Duarte Filipe.
