Funeral service announced for ‘Father of Portuguese Tourism’ André Jordan

André Jordan is best known as the founder of Quinta do Lago in the Algarve

The funeral service for André Jordan, considered by many to be the ‘Father of Portuguese Tourism’ who died aged 90 last Thursday, will be held on Monday, February 12, from 4pm, at Almancil’s Nossa Senhora de Fátima Church.

A Mass will take place earlier, at 10am, at Lisbon’s Basílica da Estrela, followed by a mass at the Almancil church in the afternoon, after which the burial service will be held at the local cemetery.

André Jordan was renowned as one of the driving forces behind the development of luxury golf resort tourism in Portugal, being best known as the founder of Quinta do Lago in the Algarve and Belas Clube de Campo in Sintra. He also played a key role in the development of Vilamoura into the resort destination it is today.
