Gas consumption in Portugal fell 3.3% to 61.8 TWh (terawatt hours) in 2022 compared to 2021, highlighting increases of 32.7% in industry and 11.5% in smaller consumers, energy regulator ERSE has announced today. As ESRE highlights, “this period is preponderantly marked by the high volatility in gas prices, in the context of Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine”. But when it came to gas consumption for electricity production, the figure was 28.1 TWh in 2022, corresponding to a growth of 26% compared to 2021.
