German artist Björn Heyn unveils exhibition at Gama Rama

‘Ice Cream is Better than Mathematics’ will be unveiled on May 15

German artist Björn Heyn will unveil an exhibition titled ‘Ice Cream is Better than Mathematics’ at the Gama Rama gallery in Faro, where he is participating in the second edition of the gallery’s artist residency program.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote cultural exchange and support contemporary artistic practice in the region, says the gallery, adding that the residency provides international artists with the opportunity to develop new work while engaging with the local context of southern Portugal.

“We are very happy to welcome Björn Heyn to our residency program. His work, filled with humour and colour, brings a new freshness and energy to the Algarve’s contemporary art. We are confident that this residency will help establish the Algarve even more as an international art hub,” said said Toma Švažaitė, co-founder of Gama Rama, which organises the residency program alongside Estúdio Yucca, an independent arts space located near the Ria Formosa in Cabanas de Tavira.

The exhibition opens on Thursday, May 15 at 5pm and will remain on display until August 23 at the gallery, located on Rua do Prior, no.13.
