Give an old dog a home: Meet Preta, Snoopy, and Zara

Old dogs deserve love too

At Cadela Carlota, we believe no dog should spend their twilight years in a shelter. Many of our older dogs come to us not because they were unwanted, but because their families could no longer care for them – often due to financial struggles or life changes. We cover all foster expenses, including food and vet bills, because we know that a home is always better than a shelter. Could you open your heart and home to an old dog in need?

Meet Preta – a gentle soul looking for comfort
Last week, we took in Preta, a 12-year-old sweetheart who was found on the streets before being taken in by a kind family. Unfortunately, they couldn’t keep her, and now she’s with us, looking for a warm, loving home.

Preta has a heart murmur that requires daily medication, and she is blind in one eye while her vision in the other is fading. This gentle, calm girl shouldn’t be in a shelter – she deserves a quiet home where she can feel safe and loved. Would you be the one to give Preta a cozy retirement?

Snoopy – a loyal companion in need of a new family
Born in 2010, Snoopy spent his whole life in a loving home until his elderly owners had to move and could no longer care for him. Since January 2023, he has been in our shelter, missing the warmth and love he once knew.

Despite his age, Snoopy is energetic, affectionate, and great with people and other dogs. He craves human companionship and would thrive in a home where he can be spoiled with attention and love.

Zara – a shelter veteran ready for a home
Unlike Preta and Snoopy, Zara has never known a home. Abandoned as a puppy in 2016, she has spent her entire life in the shelter after all her siblings were adopted. Zara has a big personality – she loves people, enjoys her walks, and has a passion for food (sometimes a little too much!). She prefers to be the only dog in a home, where she can soak up all the love and attention. After eight years in the shelter, she deserves to know what it’s like to be part of a family.

Open your heart – foster an old dog
Preta, Snoopy, and Zara, like so many older dogs, still have so much love to give. If you can’t commit to adoption, fostering is a wonderful way to help. We cover all costs – all they need is your time, love, and a comfortable place to rest.
