Portugal’s GNR police have put out a statement warning citizens about a new regime of fines for drinking in public or organising events or gatherings with more than five, 10 or 20 people – depending on where you are in Portugal. Fines can range between €100 and €5,000.
This new regime came into force on July 1 and will remain so until July 14.
Furthermore, disrespecting police orders to disperse will be considered a crime of disobedience, the police force added.
