Government calls on APA to come up with solution for water supplies to Mértola

The government has called on Portuguese environment agency APA to come up with a solution to ensure that the parishes of Espírito Santo and Mesquita, in Mértola, get a regular supply of fresh water. ‘Hydric stress’ has become so chronic in these two communities on the edges of the Guadiana River that most homes have resorted to storing water in their own tanks. Water, however, is a fundamental right, says the government thus its pressure on APA and Mértola town council to supply it.
