Government ‘doubles’ offer to police for payment of ‘mission supplement’

Breaking news this afternoon is that the government has ‘doubled’ its offer to PSP and GNR police calling for mission supplement parity with payments made to PJ judicial police. “On the table”, say reports, is a mission supplement of 10% for prison agents, 12% for sergeants and 14% for officers (indexed to the base salary of the GNR commander in chief). It could spell monthly increases of €150. Notwithstanding this ‘breakthrough’, SIC Notícias suggests syndicates are expected to refuse the proposal. Their insistence throughout negotiations has been on ‘parity’ with PJ counterparts.
