Government stands firm in face of GALP’s hand-wringing

Environment minister Duarte Cordeiro is standing firm today: the government expects GALP to buy gas from other sources if it is not forthcoming from Nigeria – and it won’t accept cost increases being passed on to consumers. This no-nonsense position comes as the national press has been reporting GALP as making €2.2 million per day in profits during the first nine months of this year, and coinciding with the ‘fuel crisis’.
