Great British Chef among passengers witnessing “one roast too far” on easyJet flight

Celebrity chef Nigel Haworth was among passengers on an easyJet flight from Liverpool to Faro yesterday that caught a bird’s eye view of ‘one roast too far’.

An unwitting kestrel flew into the plane’s engine shortly after take-off, and “went right through it” emerging in flames from the other side.

The distressing sight was not the only hitch. With an engine malfunction, the plane was forced to return to base and await a replacement.

Three hours later passengers were once again on their way – this time managing to take off, fly and land in Faro without any further encounters of the feathered kind.

Haworth, famed for his gastropubs, special version of Lancashire hotpot and the Northcote Obsession Gastronomic Festival was travelling with wife Kath and tells us he didn’t actually see the flaming bird as he was on the ‘other side of the plane’.
