PSP police arrest two after short car chase
Days after five prisoners broke out of a high-security jail, a car – reportedly driven by a relative of a prisoner – has tried ramming a prison van as it transported a prisoner to Matosinhos court.
According to reports, the car “chased” and attempted to ram the prison van after it set out on its journey from Custóias jail into Matosinhos this morning.
Details are sketchy, but it appears the van was forced at some point inside the city to stop, with the guards travelling inside it ‘managing to immobilise the two men in the car’, who were then handed over to PSP police.
SIC Notícias reports that the two arrested men are “allegedly relatives of the detainee” who, at no time, was given any opportunity to escape.
